Lake Keepit Storage Dam
Lake Keepit storage dam is situated within the Lake Keepit Recreation Park some 30kms upstream of Gunnedah on the Namoi River. This dam has a capacity of 425,510 mega litres and a surface area of 4,370 hectares and was built to provide flood mitigation, water storage, hydro-electricity generation and recreation.
Gosling Electrical successfully upgraded the high and low voltage electrical network, the purpose was due to the dam wall being raised supplying 3 saddle dams and assisting in the retention of flood waters. Works undertaken included high voltage reticulation throughout the site, installation of new earthing systems (close proximity to generation plant), the removal and relocation of transformers, supply, install and commissioning of other transformers, underground and overhead cabling and to supply, install and connect to a new main switchboards.
This project provided many technical challenges with both external power supplies and also the installation of power within the dam wall itself, it also met a large amount of local and state media, the spotlight was on how well we would perform. We are very proud that Gosling Electrical were able to meet every challenge through our expertise, ability to communicate effectively with the principal contractor, suppliers and Essential Energy which brought this major project to
Pacific Highway Upgrade
Gosling Electrical has been privileged to construct sections of the Pacific Highway with the most recent additions having been engaged on the $4.3 Billion dollar Woolgoolga to Ballina Upgrade. We have undertaken multiple sections of the new highway with power line relocations, street lighting, fauna crossings and heavy vehicle inspection stations (HVIS). These works also continues on to encompass the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and also the Variable Message Signs (VMS that display safety messages to the public as the continue to use the Pacific Highway. Following our engagement in these projects, it has allowed Gosling Electrical’s documentation to come in line with the highest standards of the industry, which is reflected in our business management systems (BMS). This robust documentation and procedural database has strengthened our staffs safety, quality, and workmanship.
Cook Drive and Pacific Highway Upgrade
Cook Drive and Pacific Highway Upgrade Coffs Harbour City Council engaged Gosling Electrical to relocate the low and high voltage power associated with a major Pacific Highway intersection upgrade at Cook Drive in Coffs Harbour. It involved muliplte power feeders, switch stations, transformers, under road bores, street lighting very tight working limitations due to existing premises and busy highway traffic, and majority of out of hours work by staff. An excerpt of a testimonial sums the project up, “Gosling Electrical were very price competitive while providing a very professional service. They organised power outages with Essential Energy, planned the works around other subcontractor and utilities, problems solved with the construction team and always went out of their way to make the job go smoothly. They always supplied the necessary experienced resources to meet deadlines and were well organised ensuring all change overs went smoothly and safely. Their staff were always courteous and nothing was ever a problem. This job was not easy, but they handled it very professionally”.
Rural Farm Works
Gosling Electrical have assisted in the growth of farming communities by bringing power to enable many blueberry dairy and potato farms developed in the regional area. These infrastructure projects have been constructed on previously undeveloped areas and often in quite rugged terrain that brings challenges with access whilst building the infrastructure. Coming from a regional town Coffs Harbour, we are very conscious of the financial challenges that many businesses work through, our focus has always been about delivering the project that you need for the best priced outcome possible. These farms are now able to operate due to having power for bores, dam pumps, packing sheds, chilling rooms, residences etc.
Coffs Harbour Justice Centre Precinct
The new Coffs Harbour Justice Precinct was awarded to Richard Crookes Constructions with Gosling Electrical to carry out the high and low voltage reticulation to the site. The combination of the land fronting the Pacific Highway combined with the fact that the site was small with limited space, presented logistical challenges in accessing and installation of the scope. Further challenges were thrown up by the infamous Coffs Harbour rainfall that also disrupted everyone’s works programs and complications to construction, however through flexibility and communication, the challenges were overcome and delivery was on time which allowed the commissioning of the complex. Works and connections were required outside of normal work hours due to the locality of the business/commercial district, a successful undertaking partnership between the principle and Gosling Electrical.
